

Company D (Augmented), 1st SFGA was activated by USCONARC General Order #34 on April 15, 1966. The unit was formed from 7th SFG(A) at Ft Bragg, NC. The unit consisted of a B-team and 4 ODAs

The classified mission for D co, 1st SFG(A), was to establish Foward Operating Bases (FOB) on the eastern border of Thailand and conduct combat operations into Laos.Â

D Co, 1st SFG(A)Â was redesignated as 46th Special Forces Company Airborne (SFCA) on 15 April 1967.

The 46th SFCA was reorganized, to support their mission of training the The Royal Thai Army Expedition Division, the Black Panthers, for their deployment to Vietnam.

LTC Robert Bartelt would be the Commander for the 46th SFCAÂ

LT Bartelt served with the 65 ID in Europe from 1944-1945. CPT Barlelt joined Special Forces in 1955, serving with 77th SFG(A) and served with 1st SFG(A) from 1958-1962.
LTC Bartelt commanded D co 1st SFG(A) and then continue as the 46th SFCA.
